American Contractor's West Virginia location offers EPA Certification and Testing.

Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques. In addition, the EPA has placed a sales restriction on refrigerants, limiting the sale of regulated refrigerants to certified technicians only. Technicians who violate the Clean Air Act provisions can be fined, lose their certification, & may be required to appear in Fed. Court.

There are Four Categories of Certification Type I - Persons who maintain, service or repair small appliances must be certified as Type I. Type II - Persons who maintain, service, repair or dispose of high or very high pressure appliances, except for small appliances or motor vehicle air conditioning systems, must be certified as Type II . Type III - Persons who service, maintain, repair, or dispose of low pressure appliance must be certified as Type III. UNIVERSAL - Persons who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of small appliances as well as high and low pressure equipment, must be certified as Universal.

We realize that your time is valuable, to accommodate our clientele and their new hires we offer a Self Study program for EPA Certification. This short and to the point 12 page study manual covers every question on the EPA's Universal Exam. We suggest you read through the study manual a few times prior to arranging your exam with the branch.

The EPA Certification exam and study manual are available for $75 and a test date can be arranged by contacting your local branch.
